ARTIST'S STATEMENT

"An artist has got to be careful never really to arrive at a place where he thinks he's
at somewhere. You have to realize that you're constantly in a state of becoming."
................................................................................................Bob Dylan

Influenced by Helen Frankenthaler I began stain painting the canvas four years ago.
Leaving the brush behind was freeing, and so began an exploration of colors created
by layering transparent paint.

As a colorist, the accidental outcomes brought forth by the serendipity of overlaying
the paint was fascinating and powerful, and left me still able to convey my ideas.

I tend to work in series, and past subjects have included spirituality, nature, feminism
and mortality.

This year I am expanding into collage, adding stones on the canvas, and also framing
the canvas with stones.
